Green Sword Tail

Green Sword Tail

Green Sword Tail fish is closely related to southern platy. When compared to souther platy is quite larger in size. Green Sword Tail platies is wonderful fish for large planted aquariums and they are a excellent option for community aquarium with tetras. Green Sword tail platie males have elongated sword shaped ray in their caudal fin which is not present in females. Green Sword Tail platies are available in different color and in different patterns as a result of cross breeding. Like other live bearers breeding is very easy, if you have enough floating plants and you are feeding your adult platies properly; you can save your platy fry in same tank itself. They are not so aggressive towards their young ones. Platies live for 2 – 3 years if cared properly. It is better to have more females, likely 2 to 3 females for every male.
